Kawai Gyokudo - Moonlit Evening, 1913 ink and light color on silk, hanging scroll, 99,7 x 182,6 cm Adachi Museum of Art, Japan |
The work presented at the 7th Bunten exhibition was a great success. Bathed in the moonlight, a fisherman and his children going home across the wooden bridge on a spring evening. The painting, full of pastoral overtones, matches Gyokudo's gentle temper and peaceful view of nature. via
